Funds Raised Benefit Those Impacted By Hurricane Irma
The Bleeding Disorders Foundation of Florida (BDFF) is howling to host its annual Jacksonville Creepy Crawl 5K and Vampire Mile on October 14th at the spooky Nocatee community, located at 100 Marketside Avenue in Ponte Vedra. Runners and walkers are invited to register now for this hair-raising 5K and mile walk and encouraged to fundraise for the BDFF bleeding disorders community. Costumes are welcome! Wicked awards will be presented for top team and individual fundraisers, most spirited teams, best Halloween costumes, and top male and female runners in various age groups. The 5K will be officially timed for runners.
This part isn’t scary: Approximately 90% of fundraising dollars from events support programs for Florida’s bleeding disorders community such as the BDFF medically supervised summer Camp Spirit, family support weekends, health educational programs, and financial emergency assistance. With the recent effects of Hurricane Irma, this year’s walks are particularly important.
“Our patients have been affected by Hurricane Irma and we are here to help them,” says Fran Haynes, BDFF Executive Director. “We will surely receive more requests this year for emergency financial assistance than we have in the past due to Hurricane Irma.” BDFF has been serving the bleeding disorders community since 1996 by supporting healthier and more independent lives.
Visit hemophilliaflorida.org/Jacksonville for more information, or to register for either the 5K or mile walk. 5K registration is $30 per participant.
